My name is Jaelyn Lewis and I’m currently a business management student at Texas A&M University. My passion for baking and cooking came from a very young age. I grew up having a wonderful cook for a grandmother and seeing her cook these great meals each week
for my extended family formed my initial interest in cooking. This soon led to a very happy child and a very worried mother as I came home wanting to make fried chicken and gravy, not understanding why my mom was so worried about an 8 year old using extremely
hot grease. I continued to cook meals and learn different recipes until one day my mom took my sisters and I to a beginners course in cake decorating in the corner of a Joanns building. Excited ten year old me loved this class and begged my mom to buy a Wiltons
starter kit. Using this kit, I started to look up various decorated cakes and video tutorials to teach myself more.
This hobby quickly turned into a passion as my family and I learned that I was actually good quite quickly. It started out just making a simple cake for my family, then into a cake for my extended family, and then I started to feel confident enough in myself to give these cakes away to friends, coaches, and members in my community. Around my first year of high school my coach, after I had fixed him
and his family pies and cakes for an event they were hosting, told me I should look into selling everything I had been making. With a lot of work, I began selling cakes, cupcakes, cookie cakes, and lots of seasonal items such as candies and pies. I soon became well known in my small town and within a couple months, I was making several cakes each weekend.
Fast forward to the following year, I was now fairly established and now searching for the next big challenge I wanted to take on. I decided to enter a national competition for a chance to win a sponsorship from the Furst-McNess Company. To my amazement, I became a finalist and then the winner and was titled the first National McNess Ambassador Chef ! Soon after this victory, I was blessed to be able to make a cake for a Bridal Wars Event. Little did I know, this would be the beginning of multiple wedding cakes. As the years have continued, I have continued to grow my business and take on wedding cakes, anniversaries, birthdays, and more and continue to fuel my energy for baking.
